Events, Updates and News from St. Boniface School

Volume IX, Issue III January/February, 2012
We have been very busy celebrating Catholic education at St. Boniface School in the last week.
Daily prayers have included our many benefactors and supporters who help to ensure that St. Boniface School remains a viable and faith-filled educational institution. Activities throughout the week acknowledged our students, staff, families, parishioners, volunteers, and community. Below are some of the highlights of our 2012 celebration:
Saturday & Sunday, January 28 & 29 CSW Kick-Off
Students spoke briefly at each Mass this past weekend about the themes of Faith, Academics, and Service in terms of their experiences here at St. Boniface School. Parishioners were told about what students liked about their school, their classes and their extra-curricular activities. Students also wanted to let them know that they are grateful for their support of the school and that the parishioners are remembered in school liturgies and prayer services. A "Thanks for your Support" note to parishioners was printed in this weeks' church bulletin and a flier insert signed by students was also included.
Monday, January 30
Each student received a button commemorating Catholic Schools Week. Student names were drawn each day and prizes were awarded if those students were wearing their buttons.
Tuesday, January 1
Students in Grades 4-8 who received the Principal's Award for the First Trimester, accompanied by Father Joe and Mrs.Hampton, attended a city-wide Catholic Schools Week Mass at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral. Representatives for this year are: Kennisha Williams(4), Janvier Musavyimana(5), Demondre Allen(6), Gideon Coffey(7), and Whitley Wilson(8).
Wednesday, February 1 Student Appreciation Day
A special lunch was served to our student "FAMILIES" groups. Lunch was served in two shifts and while one group ate, the other group worked on a service activity. Students made Valentines and placemats to be used at a Little Brothers' Friends of the Elderly dinner. Later that afternoon, students were treated to fun activities, such as games and movies in their classrooms.
Thursday, February 2 Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day
Our teachers will be treated to soft drinks, snacks, and a special dessert with their lunch in the Staff Room.
Friday, February 3 The Grand Finale
A school-wide Catholic Schools Week Community Liturgy was celebrated at 8:30AM.
Students participated in a Prize Walk with their "FAMILIES" groups in the gym at 1:00PM.
All Week:
Catholic Schools Week Outreach Projects 2012
Throughout the week, a penny/coin drive was held. The final total is not in yet, but all proceeds will benefit
Cincinnati Shriners' Burn Hospital. In past years, we have had tremendous responses to our Outreach Projects and we are grateful for your support. We'll be sure to share our final total with you when it is available.

In addition to this drive, it has been our tradition for students to spend some time during this
week calling those St. Boniface parishioners who are "home-bound".
Mrs. Lawrence's 4th Grade students and Miss Luken's 8th Graders participated in this activity.
Start Spreading the News…OPEN ENROLLMENT
began on Wednesday, February 1st. All current students received Enrollment Forms in their Thursday Folders several weeks ago. The deadline to return these was YESTERDAY, February 1st.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON YOUR CHILD ATTENDING ST. BONIFACE SCHOOL NEXT YEAR AND YOU HAVE NOT SENT IN YOUR REGISTRATION FORMS, PLEASE DO SO IMMEDIATELY!
Many classes are at full capacity this year. With Open Enrollment now underway, the only way to guarantee a spot for your child(ren) next year is to turn in your Registration Forms NOW! If you can not find or did not receive your Registration Forms, please call the school office and we'll send them home with your student(s). Also, if you know that your child(ren) is/are not returning next year, we would appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible.
Something to "toot our horn"ABOUT
The Music Room is really hoppin' and boppin' these days. With the help of some grant money, there are now 24 students involved in Beginning and Advanced Band every Friday afternoon. We are pleased that so many students are taking advantage of this great opportunity. Both lessons and instrument rental fees are covered by the grant money.
Keyboards are a new addition to our Music program this year. Mrs. Cooper is also teaching Keyboarding to interested Middle School students on Thursday afternoons after school.
